The Waring Library Society will grant one award for an undergraduate essay ($1,000) and one award for a graduate essay ($2,000). There are different length requirements for each category, as described below. The essay must be sent to the Waring Historical Library by May 31, 2022.
There are no requirements for length or format. Winning papers have ranged from first person essays to formal, journal ready articles. Papers already written for a class or other purposes during the previous 12 months are eligible for the competition.

Essays are the most important component of your application. We recommend you write your essays outside of the online application and copy/paste them into the online application when you are ready to submit. All essay questions are required. There is a 500 word limit for each question.
Each year, the New York State Education Department honors Dr. King's memory by inviting schools to submit student art and essays that reflect Dr. King's teaching. Schools submitted original artwork illustrating Dr. King's Six Principles and Steps of Nonviolence or essays celebrating Dr. King's birthday.
Prizes for the high school division are a $500 first-place prize, a $300 second-place prize, and a $200 third-place prize. This award, open to District VII Junior Fellows, provides up to $1,500 to attend the ACOG Annual meeting and publication of the winning essay in the District VII newsletter and on the District VII website.
Each year District IX seeks original essays based on your own experiences and ideas about why you are interested in the ob-gyn specialty. This essay contest is open to medical students in California only. Previous winners are not eligible, however you may submit an essay if you have entered before but did not win.
The Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society offers student essay awards and student research fellowships. The student research fellowships are comprised of 50 fellowships that may be awarded annually to students in their first, second, or third year (fourth year students not eligible). Each will provide $4000 to the student for support of the proposed research and $500 to the faculty supervisor in support of the student's project.

The National Sex Education Standards outline foundational knowledge and skills students need to navigate sexual development and grow into sexually healthy adults. Her science teacher, Ms. Cindy Kellor, will receive a $1000 grant from ASHG to purchase new genetics laboratory equipment for the biology classrooms at James Madison Memorial High School, as well as five MiniOne Systems. Her science teacher, Ms. Maria Zeitlin, will receive a $600 grant for genetics materials and three MiniOne Systems. Sharma, whose essay also described testing for hereditary breast cancer, and Schneider, whose essay also described testing for Huntington disease, will each receive a $400 prize.
